POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Member Service Representative Department: Operations
Positions Supervised: No
POSITION PURPOSE
The Member Service Representative (MSR) is responsible for delivering exceptional service to credit union members by performing teller line functions, assisting with new account openings, and assisting with loan applications for further review. The MSR plays a key role in educating members on available products and services to help them meet their financial goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Provides efficient, accurate, and friendly service to members in person, over the phone, and electronically.
Performs teller transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, and issuing cashier’s checks and money orders.
Verifies signatures, account balances, and transaction accuracy prior to disbursing funds.
Opens and services new accounts including checking, savings, CD’s, and IRAs.
Initiates consumer loan applications and gathers necessary documentation before submitting to loan processors.
Educates members on credit union products and services.
Handles account maintenance including address changes, name updates, and account closures.
Assists in the resolution of member inquiries, disputes, or complaints with professionalism.
Balances cash drawer daily and assists with vault and ATM balancing, ordering, and replenishment.
Maintains compliance with all credit union policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: High School degree or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1-year experience in banking or a credit union.
Experience Required: Customer service and cash handling experience required.
Must have experience in customer-facing roles.
Knowledge of basic financial products preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Strong communication skills.
Excellent member service and relationship-building abilities.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures.
Knowledge of financial products and services.
Team-oriented with a willingness to support branch functions.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
May need to stand or sit for long periods of time
