Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in administering medications, monitoring patient health, and providing essential support to residents in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications accurately according to physician orders and facility protocols, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
  • Monitor vital signs and observe patients for adverse reactions or changes in condition, documenting findings meticulously within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Assist with specialized care procedures such as tube feeding, catheter care, and other medical treatments requiring detailed knowledge of physiology and anatomy.
  • Maintain comprehensive and compliant medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and accurate medical records.
  • Support residents with daily activities related to medication management, including reminding patients about medication schedules and assisting with self-administration when appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards related to medication storage, handling, and disposal while adhering to state regulations and facility policies.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
  • Experience providing dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care or hospice support is a plus.
  • Background in caregiving roles involving individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities is desirable.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards is essential for maintaining compliance and ensuring patient privacy.
  • Previous roles involving acute care or working within medical offices that require attention to detail in medical records are beneficial.
