Safe Roads Research & Development, a division ofRSG International, conducts research and development and provides technical advisory services in the field of road safety infrastructure. We’re experts in new product development, including product testing, and bring these products to market. We work with our clients to develop practical designs and find solutions to improve transportation safety.
Reporting to the Director, RSG International, theMechanical Designerplays an important role in the product development process by turning ideas into tangible designs that meet functional requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations. They will contribute to the success of various projects by combining creativity with technical expertise to solve design challenges. They will coordinate projects between the engineering and construction team as well as participate and act as a key member our full-scale crash testing team.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the other members of the R&D team to ensure all work is completed on time, effectively, and efficiently.
Prepare drawings and models using SolidWorks.
Assist with new product design and testing.
Develop digital 2D and 3D models.
3D Printing of scale models.
Sourcing of materials.
Create testing layout drawings and testing parameters.
Assist in performing testing ranging from materials to full-scale, high-speed crash tests.
Documenting and instrumentation of test articles
Coordinate with construction crews to ensure accurate construction of test articles.
Prepare all necessary documentation per operation requirements for job packages for scheduling and mobilization purposes, inclusive of all required resources and coordinate the work internally and externally accordingly.
Assist with multiple projects of various sizes, concurrently.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Post- secondary education in Mechanical/Civil Engineering Technology or Mechanical/Civil Engineering
Strong skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Basic understanding of different materials and manufacturing applications
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
Previous construction experience is an asset.
Previous work as a coordinator is an asset.
Self-starter, ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a team.
Valid G drivers’ license
