Job Summary
The Mechanical Assistant helps maintain the 1.6 million gallon anaerobic digester operation in West Amana, ensuring it runs at peak efficiency. This includes oversight of the digester vessel, mixing pit, generator building, and electronic metering, substrate systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure process efficiency from input collection to power generation & byproduct handling
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs
- Maintain proper input ratios for optimal operation
- Operate pumps, mixers, tanks, engines, and other equipment
- Maintain facility cleanliness and safety
- Assist with engine uptime and maintenance planning
- Track inventory and byproduct flow
- Collaborate with internal teams and outside specialists
- Support feedlot and other farm operations as needed
Requirements
- Mechanical background or willingness to learn
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to operate equipment and make decisions under pressure
- Physically capable of hands-on work
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including two weekends a month
Work Environment
Work is performed at the West Amana Digester Operation and Feedlot, involving outdoor conditions, machinery, and physically active tasks such as lifting, walking, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour
