Work Schedule
1st Shift-6:30am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday, with overtime and weekends based on company needs.
Position Summary
Ensure the smooth flow of materials both raw & finished on the production floor. Operate forklift in a safe and careful manner. Observe all GNS safety rules, regulations and established procedures, including those established for forklift operations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate forklift to transport a variety of parts and materials from one department to another, or from one work station to another.
- Ensure that loads are stacked properly for safe transportation, pick up load – holding load as closely to the ground as conditions permit – and position load safely and carefully at designated drop-off point.
- Check oil level, battery, and make other routine checks of vehicle daily. Change tanks of propane gas as required. Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including pulling and stocking parts, stock control, preparation for new work, dumping scrap, transporting dies, loading coils, removing unnecessary items from floor, etc.
- Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hook tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transport load to designated area.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work process, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Participate in continuous improvement and assist in its implementation on an ongoing basis.
- Keep work area clean and well organized in a 5S manner
- Maintain safety standards in the workplace.
- Ensure Quality in the workplace.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and enter data using a keyboard and mouse. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger; handle; feel; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This job involves repetitive tasks and attention to detail. Fast-paced environment, usually work standard 40-hour weeks, but overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, and weekends.
Work Environments
Work performed in a shop environment and regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. GNS has established processes, procedures, and protective equipment to reduce or eliminate exposures to these hazards and full compliance is a requirement of the job. Requires working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting. Employees are exposed to extreme heat and/or cold and other workplace hazards. Noise level is the work environment is mostly loud. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical and background checks.
