Role Impact:
To lead, monitor, and report on overall status and progress of Tenant construction projects and the annual project plan on a regular basis. To provide project management throughout the initiation, planning, design, execution, and post-execution phases of projects. To work closely with other internal departments, outside consultants and contractors to build the cross-functional teams necessary for delivering various aspects of projects.
To ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget and up to quality standards. To arbitrate, negotiate and advise internally and externally including with government agencies. To assist with the updating or revision of corporate policies as required. To protect Cadillac Fairview’s contractual position and ensure finished projects meet contracted and regulatory standards.
What you will deliver:
Develop scope of work for proposed projects by creating detailed descriptions and requirements to enable contractors to submit detailed tenders
Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and according to specifications
Connect with internal and external parties to provide project updates and relevant information
Adapt, revise, reorganize and maintain existing information and procedures to provide guidance to contractors
Monitor base building construction by inspecting construction progress and ensure work is performed to CF standards and in a timely fashion
Review consultants’ reports, invoices, project documents, correspondence, development information and leases; recommends payments
Collect data from contractors and consultants regarding budgets for base building renovations, demolition and restoration to support leasing and accounting departments. Partake in yearly budget development including year capital planning budgets.
Review and approve contractors’ invoices for progress payments by assessing contract status, percentage of progress, liaises with consultants, etc. to support accounting department
Evaluate and analyze construction tenders by comparing competitor’s prices to choose the best price for the job
Prepare and follow up on a deficiency report by way of inspection of construction. Coordinates with designer/engineers/contractors to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with relevant standards and design documents
Attend base building project, operations and other meetings to share information and assist where necessary
Support leasing in day-to-day activities related to construction budget, planning and construction as required
Assist property management in all tenant move in and move out activities.
Work with security and coordinate access to contractors and tenant contractors as needed.
Responsible for writing business cases for all landlord work projects
Prepare and present to senior leadership as required.
Oversee all Tenant construction projects
Manage all Landlord related work and projects, ensuring they meet lease requirements and are delivered within tight deadlines
Maintain a record of all the as-built drawings
Understand that people relationships are essential in this role and include: executives and management, all departments involved in development projects, consultants, architects, engineers, municipal staff, tenants and Construction Managers.
Provide and maintain courteous, professional and efficient service to internal and external partners by responding to and following up on information in a timely manner

What you need to succeed:
Minimum of five to seven (-) years’ progressive experience in one or more of the following: construction (field and office), project management, civil engineering, architecture
People management experience is an asset
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or related discipline
Knowledge of the industry and related technology
Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural drawings
Good technical skills and Solid understanding of Building Code and project management skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability and willingness to conduct frequent, on-site visits.
