Position Overview

Autodesk’s Viewer Platform powers high-performance 2D and 3D visualization experiences across our product portfolio. As a Manager, Software Development you will lead a team of software engineers to deliver scalable, performant, and reliable viewer and product capabilities that support critical customer workflows.

You are responsible for driving execution, developing people, and ensuring high-quality delivery across a defined area of the Viewer platform or Visualization products such as Model Coordination. You operate at the intersection of engineering execution, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring your team consistently delivers impactful outcomes aligned with product and platform strategy.

Success in this role is measured by your ability to build a high-performing team, deliver predictable results, and continuously improve engineering practices, system quality, and team velocity.

Responsibilities

  • Build, line-manage and grow a high-performing team of local and potentially remote software engineers through hiring, coaching, and performance management

  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Support career development through regular feedback, mentorship, and growth planning

  • Ensure team health, engagement, and a sustainable delivery pace

  • Own delivery of team commitments, ensuring predictable execution aligned with product and platform priorities

  • Manage planning, prioritization, and execution across sprints and longer-term milestones

  • Identify risks, remove blockers, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software

  • Foster accountability for end-to-end ownership, including development, testing, deployment, and production support

  • Collaborate with technical leaders to ensure software solutions are fit for purpose, scalable and maintainable

  • Ensure engineering best practices across non-functional concerns such as code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability

  • Support architectural decision-making and ensure alignment with broader platform strategy

  • Partner closely with Product Management and User Experience to translate customer needs into executable plans

  • Align with other engineering teams to ensure consistent platform evolution, product integration and release management

  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly and proactively to stakeholders

  • Continuously improve engineering processes, development workflows, and team efficiency

  • Drive operational excellence across reliability, performance, customer escalations and incident management

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science is typically expected, but we are open to candidates who took other paths into the world of software engineering

  • 4+ years of experience as a Team Lead or Engineering Manager, working with software development teams delivering highest quality SaaS products to customers

  • Experience leading both local and remote developers, and developers with a range of experience and seniority

  • Experience in managing complex software projects with dependencies on other development teams and timelines

  • Experience in modern, fast-paced SaaS product delivery and agile practices

  • Able to think and act both outside and ahead of your team

  • Agile when the environment or requirements change

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI tools, and some experience of using them as part of your workplace practices

  • Experience with hiring, scaling teams and improving engineering processes in growing organizations is a plus
