Job Summary
Reporting
to the Executive Director, Information Technology, the Manager, Information Management Services (IMS) is a key
member of the IT Leadership Team responsible for guiding operations, staff
development, planning, technology solutions development, and
implementation of district-wide technical programs. The IMS department supports
more than 90,000 users, including students and staff, across schools and
district sites. The Manager, IMS ensures reliable, secure, and high-quality
technology services that enable teaching, learning, and operations across the
district.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Solutions
Development: Assessing and delivering technologies best suited to support dynamic
educational environments.
- Strategic planning
- Endpoint management (macOS, PC, iOS)
- SCCM, Intune, MS endpoint management (MECM), Jamf
- Software evaluation processes
- Network infrastructure (HP Aruba wired and wireless), LAN/WAN, firewalls (Palo Alto)
- Data centre operations, antivirus platforms (Sophos, Windows Defender)
- Telephone systems (Avaya)
Application Management
Supporting stable and effective usage of various applications and programs.
- Cloud and application strategy
- MS365 and Teams administration
- MS Exchange Online, MS Active Directory
- PowerSchool ERP, MyEdBC (Aspen Follett), SchoolBundle, Spaces
- Power BI, software development
- Data strategy, privacy, and governance
Infrastructure &
Project Management: Deployment of new technologies across the district
(computing, networks, infrastructure), asset management (Absolute Software,
Destiny Resource Manager, Jamf), client communication and district reporting.
Security &
Operations: Cybersecurity awareness programs
(Proofpoint), network monitoring, firmware and patching, vulnerability
assessments, backup and restore processes.
Field Services & Day-to-Day
Support: Remote and onsite technical support, troubleshooting and
root-cause analysis, technology deployment, re-imaging, client communications,
and reporting.
Service Desk: Call
centre management (System Center Service Manager – SCSM + Cireson), client
communications, district reporting, Incidence Management (IM), Service Requests
(SR), Problem Management (PM), Change Management (CM).
People Leadership: Leading, coaching, and developing unionized staff members to support
high-quality service delivery.
District Leadership
Support: Providing guidance, consultation, and expert advice to district
stakeholders and clients.
Other related duties
as required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a
related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in information management
services, information technology operations, or related enterprise technology
environments. Equivalent combination of education and relevant
professional experience may be considered.
- Supervisory experience in a large, complex, unionized environment is an asset.
- Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems and ERP transformations is preferred.
- Experience in the BC public sector or K-12 education environment is preferred.

- Knowledge of:
- Networking technologies: HP-Aruba, Airwave, ClearPass, Palo Alto
- Data Centre technologies: HP Servers, Nimble, VMware
- Enterprise & Cloud technologies: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Azure, SCCM/MECM/Intune, Jamf
- Computer platforms:
- Apple technologies (iPads, laptops, desktops, iOS, macOS).
- PC technologies (Dell hardware, Windows operating systems)
The salary range for this position is $112,430 to $140,537 per year with comprehensive benefits package and Municipal Pension.
Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of qualifications and ability to meet the key requirements of the job, and consideration of internal equity comparisons. The midpoint of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position.
