Position Overview

The Manager, Prevention, Screening, Patient and Family Support is an operational and strategic leadership role within the Hudson Regional Cancer Program, responsible for advancing regional cancer prevention, screening, and supportive care priorities across North Simcoe Muskoka.

This is a full‑time, on‑site leadership role based at the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre and requires a strong, visible presence to support teams, build relationships, and intentionally shape a healthy, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace culture.

We are seeking a Master’s‑prepared leader who brings strong system thinking, performance discipline, and a genuine belief that high expectations and a positive culture go hand‑in‑hand. This role requires the ability to translate provincial cancer system priorities into clear regional strategies and operational plans, while leading with empathy, clarity, and purpose.

The successful candidate will lead multiple multidisciplinary teams and portfolios that are foundational to early detection, equitable access, quality improvement, and patient and family experience across the cancer continuum.

Scope of Accountability

The Manager is accountable for the leadership, performance, and integration of the following portfolios within the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre:

  • Cancer Prevention and Screening (including breast, Lung, cervical, and colorectal screening programs)
  • Patient and Family Support Services
  • Psychosocial Oncology and Supportive Care
  • Coordination of referral pathways and, as required, support to diagnostic assessment activities
  • Genetics and Hereditary Cancer Services
  • Quality Improvement, person‑centred care, and system performance monitoring
  • Indigenous cancer‑specific care supports, in alignment with regional and provincial agreements (supportive role)

This role works closely with Ontario Health – Cancer Care Ontario, regional primary care partners, Indigenous partners, internal clinical leaders, and community organizations to improve screening participation, reduce inequities, and strengthen coordinated care pathways, while fostering respectful collaboration and shared accountability.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for regional cancer prevention, screening, and supportive care programs, aligned with provincial cancer plans, ICP agreements, and organizational priorities
  • Intentionally foster a positive, psychologically safe, and inclusive workplace culture where staff feel valued, respected, and supported
  • Lead with visibility and approachability through consistent on‑site presence and meaningful engagement with teams
  • Model compassionate, fair, and consistent leadership behaviours that build trust, accountability, and team resilience
  • Lead regional screening performance improvement, including participation rates, equity‑focused outreach, diagnostic follow‑up, and wait‑time performance
  • Oversee program planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting for prevention and screening deliverables, including funding accountability
  • Advance patient and family support models that improve experience, navigation, and access across the cancer continuum
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to support effective referral pathways and coordinated access to diagnostic services, as applicable
  • Partner with Quality Leads to drive continuous improvement, evidence‑based practice, and performance monitoring
  • Translate complex data, scorecards, and population‑level insights into clear, actionable operational strategies
  • Build strong, respectful partnerships with primary care, Indigenous partners, community agencies, and regional stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with provincial legislation, accreditation requirements, and Ontario Health standards
  • Support staff well‑being, engagement, accountability, and professional development through coaching, recognition, and clear expectations
  • Lead financial planning, budget management, forecasting, and responsible resource utilization across assigned portfolios

Education

  • Master’s degree in health administration, Public Health, Health Leadership, Business Administration, or a related discipline
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree with a commitment to complete a relevant master’s degree within two (2) years of appointment, with proof of enrolment required within the initial probationary period.

Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience within a complex healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated experience in cancer prevention, screening, population health, quality improvement, or supportive care programs
  • Experience working within provincially funded programs with defined performance expectations and deliverables
  • Strong financial and operational management experience, including budget oversight and resource planning
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and working within a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change while maintaining staff trust, engagement, and morale
  • Demonstrated ability to advance equity‑focused and culturally safe care approaches
