About the Role
The Major Shutdown Planner is part of the Maintenance Department and works closely with various teams, including Maintenance, Operations, and Metallurgy. The incumbent is responsible for planning maintenance activities during major shutdowns across all process and surface operations areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and coordinate major shutdown activities in mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical maintenance across all surface process areas.
- Ensure the availability of human and material resources, including contractor management, spare parts, and tools required for maintenance work execution.
- Ensure equipment availability according to shutdown sequences established in collaboration with Operations and Metallurgy.
- Coordinate and facilitate preparation, progress review, and lessons learned meetings.
- Develop and maintain Gantt charts for major shutdowns and preparatory work.
- Support the Maintenance Planning team as required (vacancy coverage and relief assignments).
- Understand, comply with, and promote regulations related to health and safety, environmental protection, and community relations.
- Participate in health and safety activities for the relevant departments.
- Coordinate and lead major shutdown backlog management meetings to ensure proper tracking and effective backlog control.
- Develop and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for major shutdowns.
- Perform any other duties related to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University, college, or vocational diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or another relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant maintenance planning experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Computer skills:
Microsoft Office, MS Project, and maintenance management software. - Knowledge of SAP.
- Mining industry experience (asset).
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE
- Éléonore Mine Site (Fly-in/Fly-out from Montréal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn‑Noranda, Val‑d’Or, and Wemindji).
- 8 days on / 6 days off work schedule (mine site), which may vary depending on major shutdown requirements.
