Maintenance Technician – Industrial Sand Mine
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing mining plant and mobile equipment in a fast-paced industrial sand mining operation. This position requires strong mechanical skills, welding and fabrication experience, and the ability to work independently while safely meeting maintenance deadlines and production demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyor systems and conveyor belts.
- Replace and repair bearings, rollers, pulleys, pumps, motors, and related equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Weld, fabricate, and modify equipment and components as needed.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair situations.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Assist with installation of new equipment and plant upgrades.
- Follow all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and coworkers regarding equipment status and repair needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of industrial, mining, aggregate, experience preferred.
- Experience repairing conveyor belts, bearings, pumps, and industrial processing equipment required.
- Welding and fabrication experience required.
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience required.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial systems preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation and maintain regular attendance.
Requirements
- Must provide and maintain own basic hand tools.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and industrial environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call hours as needed.
Safety Requirements
- Must comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
- MSHA training certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with mining or aggregate processing equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs.
