About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to oversee daily maintenance operations at one of our shopping mall properties. In this role, you will lead the maintenance team and ensure the smooth operation, safety, and overall condition of the mall’s building systems, common areas, and equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for tenants, retailers, and visitors. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, experience in commercial facilities, and a proactive, customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and support the maintenance team to ensure daily tasks and preventive maintenance are completed efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections and perform repairs on building systems (plumbing, lighting, etc.)
- Respond to complex or escalated tenant and retailer service requests in a timely and professional manner
- Monitor and adjust building automation systems to maintain comfort and energy efficiency
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for maintenance and projects
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of maintenance activities and equipment performance
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and fire/life safety regulations
- Oversee seasonal operations such as snow removal, landscaping, and exterior upkeep
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide leadership during after-hours emergencies
- Support training, development, and performance management of maintenance staff
- Perform daily litter pick-up across the property
- Assist with snow removal as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial building maintenance or facility operations
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role (shopping mall or retail experience is an asset)
- Technical diploma or certification in building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trade) is an asset
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and manage a team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
