On-site:This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.
The Role
Our team is looking for a Maintenance Group Leader to supervise a group of skilled trades team members. You will be responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment while upholding GM’s purpose and values and ensuring the safe work practices of all its team members.
Assignments will be completed using independent judgment within the limits of the Global Manufacturing System (GMS), focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Supervise skilled trades team members and support them in achieving business objectives
Manage daily and weekly tasks and scheduling of team members
Guide workforce to maintain efficiency and all cost objectives
Recommend solutions to mechanical and electrical problems
Evaluate and adjust work plans to accomplish objectives
Diagnose equipment malfunctions and breakdowns and develop permanent corrective actions
Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes
Coordinate the development of pre-task plans prior to jobs to ensure all jobs are completed safely
Schedule preventative maintenance (PM) tasks through use of Maximo and continuously improve PM program
Ensure production equipment is capable of meeting schedule and quality requirements
Complete annual Employee Performance Evaluations
Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
Create follow up workorders and communicate details of maintenance related items during shift change meetings
Learn, adopt, and lead GMS (Global Manufacturing System) processes to operate the business unit with continuous improvement
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Diploma / Degree or professional certification in a related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience required
Ability to ensure a safe industrial work environment
Effective communication skills and Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate and support team member output
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
Ability to work on rotating shifts as required
Able to work autonomously with occasional guidance from leaders and peers
