ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE The Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in providing comfort and safety to our residents. Under the direction of the, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for general building maintenance and preventative maintenance duties, including performing minor repairs, renovations, maintenance of the residence, and coordination with contractors to ensure the building is well maintained.

Performs duties in all service areas in a safe and efficient manner with consideration for residents, staff, and family members. BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of grade 12

education

required. Previous experience in building services with a strong background in HVAC, working with senior clientele is considered an asset. Proven ability to perform janitorial duties, renovations, repairs, minor plumbing/electrical work, and preventive maintenance.

Ability to

communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.

Ability to

work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, organizational, and

problem-solving skills

. Intermediate computer skills required. Dependable, responsible, flexible and an ability to work well with others in a

team environment

and independently. Demonstrates a

positive attitude

necessary to meet the goals and standards of the residence. A resident-oriented individual, whose visions and values align with those of the residence.

. KEY

RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in and adheres to continuous quality improvement standards. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance duties with an acceptable standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility in a timely and friendly manner. Responsible for monitoring all maintenance contracts and warranties in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Building/Environmental Services Manager. Responsible for inspecting resident suites upon resident turnover, and ensuring suites are move-in ready for prospective residents including patching holes, painting, minor carpentry, electrical/plumbing, carpet cleaning, demolition of the suite, etc.
