Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Machine Shop Helper to support daily operations in our manufacturing shop. This position assists machinists and operators with production, material handling, equipment operation, shipping/receiving, and general shop maintenance. The ideal candidate has prior machine shop or trade experience and is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with setup and operation of CNC mills
- Help operate CNC flame cutting equipment
- Support operation of Blanchard grinders
- Clean, deburr, and prepare finished parts
- Move materials and parts throughout the shop using a forklift
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities
- Load and unload materials and deliveries
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and shop standards
- Work with machinists and production staff to meet production goals
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of prior machine shop, manufacturing, or trade experience preferred
- Basic understanding of shop tools and industrial equipment
- Forklift experience preferred (certification a plus)
- Ability to read tape measures and basic shop drawings is helpful
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Skills
- Experience in metal fabrication or machining environments
- Familiarity with CNC equipment and shop safety practices
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
