Position Overview
Reporting to the Dispatch Manager, the Logistics Dispatcher plays an integral role in matching customer needs with both internal asset capabilities and outside carrier competencies. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who thrives within the complexities of North American trucking operations, including domestic and cross-border freight.
Key Responsibilities
- Shipment Coordination: Schedule and manage the movement of FTL and LTL goods from origin to destination, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Carrier & Asset Management: Source outside carriers or utilize TPT Assets, ensuring all customer needs are met and loads are covered promptly.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and carriers, providing real-time updates and resolving logistical disruptions. Provide proactive communication to customers.
- Negotiation & Pricing: Book carrier contracts/load sheets and negotiate freight rates with confidence. Collaborate closely with the Pricing department and rate analysts.
- Cross-Border Logistics: Coordinate freight movements between Canada and the US, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
- System Integrity: Maintain and update TMS software with accurate data entry to track and trace shipments.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation logistics or coordination.
- 1 year of experience in customer/carrier relations (preferred).
- Familiarity with North American road and inter-modal freight.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and a high level of customer focus.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet management and data entry.
- Attributes: A dependable self-starter who is willing to learn and capable of making independent decisions.

Details
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Location: Milton, ON, Hybrid. 3 days in the office each week, scheduled by the manager. In office days may be amended as determined by management to meet business needs.
- Typical Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for operational needs
- Stat Holiday Coverage: The team rotates coverage for statutory holidays. Banked hour are provided in compensation.
- Vacations: Timing of PTOs are approved by the manager to avoid multiple team members off at once.
- On Call Phone: Team rotates coverage. Any time spent over 30 minutes per week will be compensated for with banked hours.
