. The Leak Detection Engineer develops, implements, and monitors the Leak Detection program for Company assets. This position will either be based in our Calgary, Alberta head office or Olds, Alberta Control Center depending on the location of the successful candidate.
Job Responsibilities
Leak Detection Systems Configures, implements and maintains simulated models for leak detection systems.
Monitors and tunes leak detection systems.
Assess leak detection system performance including false alarms with Operations Control.
Understands and interprets pipeline systems to establish leak detection requirements.
Works with Operations Control and Pipeline Integrity to determine critical assets and prioritization. Provides rotational 24×7 on-call technical service of the control center for leak detection support as needed. Leak Detection Program Reviews field equipment and operations and provides recommendations to improve leak detection capabilities.
Prepares cost estimates, budgets and supplies an oversight of changes.
Evaluates Leak Detection and Simulation technologies and stay current on industry trends and regulations.
Develops technologies to improve leak detection performance.
Provides Controller and Operator training.
Performs additional projects as required.
Provide support and mentorship to junior Engineers on team Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an APEGA P.Eng Designation A minimum of 5 years of pipeline operating experience. Flexible, able to adapt to a change in work priorities and manage multiple projects with short turnaround time, including unplanned overtime.
Ability to
work a rotational on-call shift to support any after hours leak detection alerts. Cross-functional
collaboration
with others to identify solutions to problems while taking into account the priorities of all work groups.
Excellent written and oral
communication skills
.
Demonstrate guidance in implementing systems across a broad organization. Up to 15% travel to Olds, Alberta and up to 5% to our Operations Control in Midland, Texas. Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks. This is a hybrid position, combining work at our Calgary office with
working from home
