ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Environmental Specialist tojoin ourdynamicteam. Reporting directly to the Director of HSSE, the Lead Environmental Specialist provides corporate environmentalleadershipandstrategic planningto support Trans Alta’s vision of being a leader in clean electricity, committed to a sustainable future. You will ensure that environmental policy, procedures, and best practices are in place to provide safe, low-cost, and reliable clean energy;

lead assurance that our facilities are operated and growth plans are developed in accordance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations; represent Trans Alta in industry associations and relationships with federal/national regulatory agencies.

This role is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Develop and implement a 1 to 3 year environment plan to meet the business requirements.

Identify & mitigate environmental risk and assess opportunities to protect biodiversity.

Lead assurance of compliance with all provincial and federal environmental regulations, approvals, and authorizations.

Provide environmental subject matter expertise on regulatory submissions and develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Continuously improve systems, processes, training and procedures to support a culture of environmental responsibility.

Support environmental incident management and investigation process.

Provide quarterly/annual environmental reporting and ensure environmental metrics are effective.

Set corporate priorities and environmentalleadershipstrategies,

Continuous improvementof core business processes.

Understanding and adhering to budget for functional area.

Create a psychologically safe environment culture, and perform all work safely and within Trans Alta’s policies, procedures, standards, and collective agreements.
