What Is The Opportunity
What You’ll Do Here
- Conduct impartial workplace investigations related to:
- Harassment, discrimination, and workplace violence
- Union employee misconduct and policy breaches
- Complaints arising under collective agreements
- Manage investigations end‑to‑end, including:
- Intake and assessment of complaints
- Defining investigation scope and jurisdiction
- Interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses
- Collecting and analyzing documentary and other evidence
- Prepare high‑quality investigation reports that clearly set out:
- Allegations and issues
- Findings of fact based on evidence
- Conclusions grounded in policy, legislation, and collective agreements
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including the Ontario Human Rights Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Apply principles of procedural fairness, neutrality, and natural justice throughout all investigations
- Provide consultation and guidance to Labour Relations and management regarding investigation processes, risks, and outcomes (as appropriate to role)
- Travel expectation 20%
- Other administrative duties as required
What You Bring To The Team
- Post secondary school education in relevant background
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in labour relations or a related professional experience conducting workplace investigations, preferably in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of labour and employment legislation and collective agreement frameworks
- Proven experience with investigation administration, documentation, and case tracking
- Strong report writing, organizational, and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Collaborative team member with excellent interpersonal skills to converse with industry stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to review large amounts of information and confidently summarize key points
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude, and excited to take on challenges
- Familiarity with collective agreements is an asset
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact and a high degree of confidentiality
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
