Plan As an ANALYST 2, your responsibilitiesare:
Perform chemical analysis using Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption (CVAA) instrumentation. Report sample results using Excel and LIMS including control charting. Organize and prioritize samples based on TAT and hold time requirements. Prepares sample digestions for mercury analysis for several matrices including water, soil, coal, paint, biota, filters, solid waste and leachates detailed in various Standard Operation Procedures. Responsible for the preparation of all standards and reagents for the workstation.
Complete documentation of digestion, reagent, maintenance and verification logs is also a key responsibility. Key Accountability/
Responsibilities:
Follow Standard Operating Procedures and ensure strict adherence to procedures. Responsible for sample digestions of various matrices. Operation, maintenance and analysis using CVAA. Instrument troubleshooting and
problem solving
. Maintain control charts as per QA manual requirements, monitor for failure to meet tolerances and consult with Supervisor regarding remedial action. General housekeeping of laboratory and workstations. Prepare samples, sub-samples and reagents. Ensure samples, extracts and standard solutions are properly labelled and stored in the appropriate location.
Maintain up to date maintenance records for instrumentation. Meet quality and turnaround time specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analysed within holding time requirements. Provide supervisor with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays. Perform simple analysis, including operation of balances and meters. Maintaining a clean organized workspace. Follow all laboratory safety rules and regulations.
Train Lab Technicians and Analyst 1 as required.
Ability to
work overtime and occasional weekends to accommodate client needs. Other duties as required Availability for shift work, OT and weekend work required

Requirements

You have
a Technical diploma required, . preferred
You have
knowledge of standard operating procedures and instrumental techniques
You have
1 to 3 years of experience in related area of testing
You have
sound knowledge of sample handling procedures to ensure continuity and integrity of samples through compliance with laboratory procedures and
quality assurance
