Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team and support the daily operations of our animal care facility. This role is vital in ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all animals in our care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, excellent customer service skills, and the physical ability to handle heavy lifting tasks. This position offers an opportunity to work in an environment dedicated to animal well-being.
Duties
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards
- Feed and provide water to animals according to established schedules and protocols
- Assist with bathing and basic health checks of animals
- Support with exercise routines by walking or playing with animals as needed
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to visitors and pet owners
- Assist with intake and discharge procedures for new or departing animals
- Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times to prevent injury or accidents
Experience
- Prior experience working with animals is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Strong customer service skills are a plus, as interaction with pet owners is part of the role
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) regularly throughout the shift
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions accurately
