Job Overview
Eaton Academy is seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to inspire scholars in grades K–8 through engaging, hands-on visual arts instruction. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, self-expression, and artistic skill development while creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based art instruction for scholars in grades K–8.
- Develop lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
- Introduce scholars to a variety of artistic techniques, mediums, artists, and cultures.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging art classroom.
- Display student artwork throughout the school and during school events.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support school-wide initiatives.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Monitor and assess student progress and communicate effectively with families.
- Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and student work portfolios.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain certification).
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or related field.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students.
- Experience working in an urban, Title I, or at-risk educational setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
