Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role in downtown Ottawa.
The Junior Network Engineer / Technical Operations Associate will support both the engineering and internal operations teams. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to build experience in networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure while also supporting the administrative work required to deliver technical services.
The role will initially include a mix of documentation, equipment preparation, Salesforce data entry, timesheet tracking, scheduling support, and internal reporting. As the candidate develops, they will take on more hands-on responsibilities related to deployments, troubleshooting, client support, and multi-vendor infrastructure projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Support senior engineers with deployments, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation
- Assist with routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, and security-related support tasks
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, implementation notes, and client records
- Assist with equipment staging, inventory tracking, installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records, timesheets, internal reports, and project information
- Support scheduling, coordination, and follow-up for engineering and client work
- Build hands-on experience across vendors such as Palo Alto, Check Point, HPE Aruba, Cisco, Netskope, Extreme, Zscaler, and Fortinet
Compensation
CAD $60,000 to $75,000 per year, plus benefits.
Qualifications
- Professional working proficiency in English and French
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in engineering, computer science, networking, cybersecurity, business technology, or a related field
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required
- Eligible for Government of Canada security clearance and willing to obtain it
- Strong interest in networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure
- Foundational understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation
- Strong attention to detail, communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable using Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, and other business systems
- Willingness to learn across multiple technologies, vendors, and internal processes
Assets
- Certifications such as HPE Aruba, Extreme, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent
- Previous co-op, internship, lab, help desk, technical support, or networking experience
- Experience with Salesforce, CRM systems, timesheets, project tracking, or technical documentation
