Journeyperson Machinist Jobs in Calgary at METRO MACHINE WORKS
Metro Machine Works is looking for a 4th year Apprentice or a Journeyman Machinist.
Metro is a family-owned machining business located in Calgary (SE). At Metro, you’ll be a valued member of our small team – not just a number. Our job shop focuses on repair, rebuilding and manufacturing. Every job is different, which makes the work interesting!
Responsibilities:
– Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
– Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers
– Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
– Program, set up and operate mills and lathes (Strong manual skills and CNC) to produce precision parts and instruments
– (Threading/Boring) Bearing diameters and all calculations
– Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
– Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
– Maintain a clean and safe work environment
– Troubleshoot issues with machines and make necessary adjustments or repairs
Requirements:
– CNC experience
– Ability to consistently maintain tolerances of .005
– Ability to use measuring equipment.
– Knowledge of and ability to select appropriate tools, tool holders, cutters, inserts.
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work independently or as part of a team
– Speak English / Good communication skills

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
