Role Description
Naylor Architect Inc. is seeking a Job Captain / Senior Job Captain to join our growing team. This role is suited to a strong technical and production-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience delivering retail, restaurant, and QSR projects across multiple phases. There will be periodic involvement in other project sectors, including multi-unit residential, auto dealerships, and senior living.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Architect, consultants, and clients to develop, coordinate, and deliver high-quality drawing packages. This role is ideal for a collaborative, dependable professional who is confident taking ownership of projects, often acting as the primary team member leading day-to-day coordination and production on a file, while being supported by a larger, experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate architectural drawing packages through design development, permit, tender, and construction phases
- Lead day-to-day coordination and production on assigned projects, serving as the primary team member responsible for advancing each file
- Assist with site measurements, existing conditions documentation, and building code / zoning coordination
- Support permit, landlord/tenant, and client submission packages across multiple Canadian jurisdictions
- Respond to RFIs, shop drawings, site issues, and construction-related coordination items as required
- Maintain drawing quality, consistency, and production standards across multiple active projects
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Interior Design
- 5-8 years of relevant professional experience
- Experience in retail, commercial or hospitality projects is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design and modeling software
- In-depth understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction documentation
- Strong project coordination skills with demonstrated experience managing consultants, contractors, and stakeholder communications
- Proven ability to problem-solve and address design and technical challenges effectively
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet demanding deadlines
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining consistently high-quality outcomes
- Valid Class G driver's licence
- Ability to occasionally travel within Canada for project-related responsibilities, including site visits, client meetings, and, at times, multi-night stays
