POSITION SUMMARY
Extero is seeking a skilled and motivated Irrigation Technician to join our growing Commercial Irrigation Division. This position is primarily responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial irrigation systems.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving problems, working outdoors, and providing exceptional service to commercial clients. While irrigation will be the primary focus of this position, team members are expected to assist with other commercial landscape and seasonal operations when irrigation work is not required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES – Commercial Irrigation Services
- Perform spring activations and winterization services.
- Diagnose and repair irrigation system issues including valves, controllers, wiring, heads, nozzles, and mainline or lateral line breaks.
- Install, modify, and upgrade commercial irrigation systems.
- Program and troubleshoot smart irrigation controllers.
- Conduct system audits and inspections to improve efficiency and water conservation.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify maintenance needs.
- Read and interpret irrigation plans and system layouts.
- Maintain accurate service records, site notes, and work orders.
- Communicate recommendations and findings to management.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Extero quality standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commercial landscape maintenance operations
- Landscape enhancement and planting projects
- Property cleanups and seasonal services
- Snow and ice management operations, including plowing, salting, sidewalk clearing, and storm response
- Shop organization and material management
- Other duties as assigned to support company operations
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of irrigation experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred:
- Experience working with commercial irrigation systems.
- Knowledge of Hunter, Rain Bird, Baseline, Toro, and similar irrigation products.
- Backflow certification or willingness to obtain.
- Snow and ice management experience.
