If you’re between the ages of 15 and 30, chances are we don’t need to tell you how rough the past year has been for young people. Jack.org has always worked with youth to make positive change for mental health, and in the wake of this pandemic, our mission is more critical than ever before.

Our staff has been working hard to raise the funds we need to meet the needs of young people in this challenging time. And, like we do every summer, we are keen to get an extra boost to our team by bringing on a cohort of interns to help across the organization. This is a paid internship that runs from May1 – August 30, 2024.Our staff’s team is works in a hybrid work environment, where people may come onsite or work remotely. We encourage applicants from across Canada to apply!

Position:Intern, Design & Improvement (Equity)

Reporting to:Manager, Design & Improvement (Equity)

In this role, you will be:

Supporting the creation of new programmatic activities for jack.org based on co-design feedback in preparation for piloting

Supporting the improvement of activities and materials for existing jack.org programs such as Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and Be There

Supporting program content creation in preparation for the upcoming school year – including training and promotional materials

Supporting program adaptation to meet the needs of youth systemically excluded from the mental health conversation, especially Black and Indigenous youth

Working with young volunteers from across Canada to gather their feedback on our programmatic activities

Working with a learning management system (Canvas) and a customer relationship management system (Salesforce) to input and track data

Providing general coordination and logistical support across our Programs Quality & Design department as needed

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience working with young people

Has an interest in and experience in creating educational materials and resources

Is solutions-focused and sees challenges as fun problems to be solved

Is keen and enthusiastic, eager to learn, and excited to be part of a team

Has public speaking or theatre experience and/or is comfortable coaching young people on speaking skills

Is proficient in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite products (particularly Google Docs and Sheets and PowerPoint)

Salesforce and/or learning management system (LMS) experience is a plus

Understanding of youth engagement and/or the education system would be ideal

Mental Health First Aid training would be an asset

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada following relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
