THE OPPORTUNITY Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Soils Qualified Person  to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of our Guelph, ON office.

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) and will act as a Qualified Person (QP) for projects In Ontario.

Responsibilities

include but are not limited to the following:

Act as a Qualified Person (QP) to provide services associated with a variety of industrial, commercial, and construction projects under Ontario Regulation 406/19, Excess Soils, and Ontario Regulation 153/04 Records of Site Condition. Prepare required assessments and technical reports as a QP to meet regulatory requirements and complete filings and registrations with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).

Prepare and provide peer review for the following: assessment of past uses reports (APU), sampling and analysis plans (SAP), soil characterization reports (SCR), excess soil destination reports (ESDAR), Soil/Fill Management Plans, soil tracking, and Phase I/II ESA reports. Prepare and execute proposals and subsequent scopes of work, including oversight and management of all phases of field activities and coordination of reports with the office team and clients.

Prepare, execute, and supervise Excess Soil Management investigations and ensure compliance with the MECP and O.Reg. 406/19. Ensure Phase I Due Diligence and Phase One Record of Site Conditions (RSC) Environmental Site Assessments are written in compliance with MECP regulations. Ensure Phase II and Phase Two Record of Site Conditions (RSC) Environmental Site Assessments are written in compliance with MECP regulations.

Schedule and coordinate field or on-site activities. Conduct field work and oversight for environmental investigations (Phase I/II ESAs, Remediations, Excess Soil) including soil and groundwater sampling, drilling, monitoring well installation, remediation, and sub-slab vapour testing. Liaise between clients and contractors. Actively pursue QA/QC procedures and guidelines with the office team to improve project development and delivery timelines. Promote health and safety in all aspects of work.

Spend time in the field. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS   A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field is preferred. Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, memos, and documents Degree in Environmental Science/Geoscience, Engineering or related field Current P.Geo. or P.Eng. designation Valid driver’s licence with access to a personal vehicle Experience in managing projects and personnel Expert knowledge of relevant Ontario Regulations (e.g. O.
