Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, for an Intermediate Interior Designer specializing in Commercial Interiors. The role involves collaborating with clients to develop creative and functional design concepts, performing space planning, and creating detailed construction drawings. Responsibilities also include selecting and specifying FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment), ensuring compliance with architectural and construction standards, and seeing designs through from concept to completion. The designer will work closely with project managers to meet client needs while adhering to timelines and budgets.

  • Develop creative and thoughtful space planning solutions that respond to client needs, business goals, and the overall design vision
  • Prepare engaging presentation materials that clearly communicate design concepts and ideas to clients
  • Participate in client meetings, design presentations, and project discussions
  • Contribute to the selection of finishes, materials, furniture, lighting, and other design elements
  • Produce drawing packages including layouts, reflected ceiling plans, millwork details, finish plans, and furniture plans
  • Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors throughout the design and construction process
  • Participate in site visits and assist with resolving design issues during construction
  • Maintain design quality and consistency across projects while continuously exploring new ideas, materials, and approaches
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and actively support the growth of our design standards

Salary – $ 70,000 to $ 80,000 per annum

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Interior Design (or related field)

• Minimum 4 years of experience in an interior design or architecture studio

• Commercial interior design experience is preferred

• Strong design sensibility with the ability to develop and communicate creative ideas

• Comfortable presenting and discussing design concepts with clients

• Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, and MS Office

• Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and AODA requirements

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

  • NCIDQ certification or pursuit of certification is considered an asset
