We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant / Bookkeeper to join a growing team in Newmarket. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting across multiple entities, including AP, AR, payroll, month-end close, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Jonas and Yardi is considered a strong asset. Experience with property management, CAMS, would be ideal.
Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple entities
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
- Process payroll and maintain related records
- Complete month-end close, including reconciliations and working papers
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules
- Track intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support year-end preparation and work with external accountants
- Maintain organized accounting files and documentation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Experience with full-cycle accounting
- Strong knowledge of AP, AR, payroll, and month-end processes
- Experience handling multiple entities
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Jonas and/or Yardi experience considered a strong asset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to Have
- Construction, property management, or multi-entity environment experience
- Progress toward accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
