Position Description
Key Responsibilities:
Thought leader of the Canadian technology team, capable of integrating industry and global requirements into local plans.
Defines the architecture principles, standards and guidelines regarding the proper use of business applications, data and technology
Holds broad expertise or unique knowledge to contribute to development of company objectives or to achieve goals in creative and effective ways Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
Exercises independent judgement and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Works with Business and development teams in recommending process or system design and enhancements
Is capable of identifying and executing (
hands-on
) performance tuning and
optimization
Can perform quality troubleshooting.
Participates in the system specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into valid software architecture
Identifies risks or issues with technology solution & design which may impact realization of project benefits and provides guidance and support to stakeholders in making good decisions to pro-actively resolve or mitigate potential risks/delays to the project
Identifies and researches relevant technologies, and recommends future improvements
Proactively identifies and implements strategies to improve reliability, leveraging automation wherever possible.
Ensures that chosen technology is flexible, supportable and requires minimal maintenance
Understands hardware lifecycle processes in distributed national architecture
Competencies required:
Problem solver with broad technical skills, and have the ability to drive technical conversations
Working knowledge of Google cloud
Preferable candidate would have solid coding skill or use of cloud native coding
Solid understanding of micro service based architecture utilizing container-based technologies
Experience in architecting Highly Available Enterprise Applications Experience supporting cloud native applications, AWS, Azure or Google cloud
Experience in 24×7 support enterprise environment is a plus
Must have
proven track record
in working with virtual teams including managed services support teams, engineers,
project management
spanning multiple time zones
Ability to
build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong security focus is a plus Solid scripting skills for various automation is a plus Knowledge and experience in Hyper-converged Infrastructure is a plus
Education
, knowledge and experience required:
Formalized
education
(bachelor’s degree min) in Computer Science or another Information Technology based program
Minimum 10+ years of technology experience5+ years of application and solution architecture
Experience with
a variety of technologies including system and application virtualization, load balancing, traditional and application firewalls, etc.
Familiar with implementation of best practices – processes and procedures – and documentation.
