Middle Beach Lodge and Bella Pacifica Campground is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to assist our Leadership Team! As the Human Resources Assistant, you will cultivate a healthy, safe, and enjoyable environment and company culture at Middle Beach Lodge.
Human Resources Assistant will under direction of the General Manager , the Human Resources Assistant completes administrative human resources functions and supports the overall morale of Middle Beach Lodge and Bella Pacifica Campground employees.
What You Will Do:
Recruitment & Talent Attraction
- Support full-cycle recruitment activities in partnership with department managers, including creating job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing employment offers.
- Build and maintain relationships with campus recruitment partners, educational institutions, and external recruitment agencies to strengthen talent pipelines and support hiring initiatives.
- Track new hires across all departments and coordinate staff housing arrival dates with Resident Advisors to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
Onboarding & HR Administration
- Administer new hire onboarding processes through the HRIS and facilitate monthly new employee orientation sessions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in both electronic and hard-copy formats, including documentation related to disciplinary actions, promotions, cross-training, and internal transfers.
- Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources department and assist with special projects as required.
Training & Developement
- Coordinate and facilitate Supervisor Training programs for newly promoted leaders.
- Research, schedule, and administer training and development programs, including mandatory compliance training and professional development opportunities.
- Track employee certifications and licenses, ensuring timely renewal reminders for qualifications such as First Aid, FoodSafe, Serving It Right, and other role-specific requirements.
Occupational Health & Safety
- Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by attending meetings, recording meeting minutes, and posting required documentation.
- Educate and orient new employees on Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.
- Monitor and maintain workplace first aid kits and supplies.
- Coordinate and lead emergency preparedness activities, including fire and earthquake drills.
- Stay informed of updates to employment legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, WorkSafeBC regulations, and public health guidance to support organizational compliance.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Assist with employee relations matters by responding to employee concerns and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Coordinate and promote employee wellness initiatives and programs, such as yoga sessions and other wellness activities.
- Support employee recognition programs that celebrate employee achievements and contributions.
- Plan, promote, and execute employee events and social activities, including staff barbecues, appreciation lunches, team-building activities, and seasonal events.
Staff Housing Support and General Support
- Participate in staff housing inspections with the General Manager and communicate housing updates, notices, and information to employees as required.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department and perform other related duties as assigned.
About You:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and comfortable learning new software and HR systems.
- Strong communication skills, including speaking, writing, and listening, with the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Well-organized with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Takes initiative, is proactive, and can anticipate needs before they arise.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
- Positive, approachable, and enjoys working as part of a team.
