Overview
Under the supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Horticulturist will be responsible for performing ground maintenance duties including, but not limited to:
Responsibilities
- General mowing
- Trim mowing
- Bunker raking
- Safe operation of a variety of turf equipment
- Watering of turf and trees
- Tree maintenance
- Golf course set-up
- Driving Range up-keep
- Assistance in construction projects
- Maintenance of Clubhouse Grounds
- Design, Plant, and maintain attractive landscape areas across the Clubhouse, pro shop, and pool
- Oversee the overall presentation and upkeep of clubhouse grounds to ensure high-quality experience
- Collaborate with team members to deliver a cohesive and well-maintained environment
- Assist in planning and executing seasonal plantings and landscape installations
- Perform pruning, fertilization, and general plant care to support healthy growth
Qualifications
- Must be able to walk moderate distances daily.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather and temperature conditions. (Snow, wind, rain, warm and cold temperatures)
- Must be able to maintain a professional appearance and attitude, with a strong attention to detail and work ethic.
- Previous work experience in Golf Course Maintenance or as a Horticulturist or related field preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to this position.
- Must be able to perform moderate physical labor, lift 50 lbs., climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
Compensation and Employment Definition
· Title: Horticuturist
· Direct Report: Buildings and Grounds Superintendent
· Compensation: Hourly, depending on experience
· Work Schedule: Monday-Saturday, or Sunday-Friday, 5:30AM-10:30AM, 30-40hrs/week, 11-month employee
