Handyperson for Parks and Campground Maintenance Jobs in Campbell River at Miracle Beach Provincial Park
You have some experience with and enjoy general groundskeeping and maintenance work, such as mowing/trimming, trailwork, painting and general light duty repairs to outdoor tables, fences and signs etc.
Must be comfortable using basic power tools (drill, grinder, circular saw – the usual).
The job will eventually span more than one location in the Campbell River and Comox area, with most work taking place close to CR.
Some of the work will also involve helping to keep park facilities clean and tidy for public use (campsites, dayuse areas, washrooms and parking lots etc).
As a Provincial Park Operator applicant, you must be able to provide an RCMP-cleared Criminal Record Check that includes the opt-in condition for working with vulnerable persons and children.
We are seeking someone with general tools experience, but will consider training a younger or less experienced individual, who shows great interest in the work, overall competence, and a good attitude towards learning and growing if additional mentoring is needed to improve.
There will be times when you will be engaging with many different people and park visitors, so you must be very polite and professional in your communication and demeanor. Part of the job is to serve the community and public, not only with safe and clean spaces, but also with great service and visitor care.
This position can certainly lead to more regular hours and responsibilties, if training and probationary peroiod are successful. There is potential for promotion to leadership positions, if desired, but not required.
As a seasonal job spanning March to November, winter months will be less hours, or may include lay-offs, however, there are some projects and tasks available to those who wish to work part-time over the off-season.
