Groundskeeper 1 Jobs in Sandy, OR at Oregon Trail School District
Position: Groundskeeper 1, Full-time (8hrs a day, 5 days a week) Temporary 7/1/2026 – 8/12/2026
Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of the Groundskeeper 1 position is to maintain the horticulture areas surrounding the school district buildings and athletic areas and fields.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to operate and maintain power equipment, including gang mowers, tractors, light trucks, and hedge shears
- Ability to establish and maintain turf for lawns and athletic fields
- Ability to landscape and plant materials in an attractive manner
- Knowledge of computer operations
- Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees, staff and students
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions with limited supervision
Other Skills and Requirements:
- Criminal justice fingerprint clearance required
- Possession of a current Oregon Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles
Experience:
Three years of experience in grounds maintenance for high use areas, preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Care for lawn areas, including athletic fields
- Prepare athletic field for appropriate activities
- Assist in the maintenance of District playground areas and equipment.
- Plant and care for hedges, shrubs, and trees.
- Plant and care for bulbs and annuals
- Cultivate soil
- Assist in the maintenance and repair equipment in the Grounds department..
- Assist in the maintenance & installation of District playground area and equipment.
- May supervise student assistants assigned to maintenance department.
- Meet seasonal requirements, such as managing leaves, snow and ice.
- Perform routine catch basin maintenance.
- Perform duties safely, while observing prescribed safety methods, procedures and policies of the Facility Operations Department.
- Prioritize tasks and take initiative to independently complete and/or foresee the need to complete a project or task.
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance, in accordance with the District’s standard of attendance.

Pay: $20.49 – $25.94 per hour
