We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

General Manager – People, Culture and Leadership

100% Regular

Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week

$128,400 to $151,200 per annum

Reporting to the Superintendent of People, Culture and Leadership, the General Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, coordination and supervision of the People, Culture & Leadership department and the operation and activities of each of the divisions within the department, including recruitment and staffing, HR information systems/operations and leadership and staff development. The General Manager works with members of senior staff, principals and managers on matters related to recruitment, hiring and promotion, and general human resource practices and approaches. The Manager represents the Superintendent in their absence and /or as required.

Main Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToOverseeing the effective implementation of equitable recruitment staffing, hiring and promotion processes in alignment with the District’s strategic priorities and approved staff complement;

Overseeing the development, coordination, implementation, review and monitoring of relevant human resource policies and procedures for all staff;

Providing human resources advice and guidance in the development of department and district strategic plans, as well as in compliance with collective agreements, Ontario Acts and Regulations and board policies;

Making data informed decisions and recommendations related to the Department’s policies, practices, and programs

Participating in Board meetings and internal and external committee meetings as required by the Superintendent;

Administering and monitoring the department’s annual operating budget and/or special purpose funding grants.

QualificationsPost-secondary degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field and eight to ten (8-10) years of related experience, preferably in an educational setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered;

CHRL or CHRE designation is required;

Knowledge of human resources management principles, practices and techniques;

Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and procedures especially as they relate to the education (K to 12) environment;

Excellent managerial skills to direct and oversee a team of HR professionals in a large organization. Demonstrates exceptional leadership for coaching, mentoring and motivating teams.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required and ability to maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders;

High degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion is required;

Public speaking ability for making presentations with ease, to large or small groups;

Superior written communications skills for writing Board reports, proposals, policies and procedures;
