Job Description
Assist with general construction tasks and perform traffic control duties to ensure safe work zones. Work under the supervision of site foreperson or traffic control supervisor.
Key duties
- Set up, operate and take down temporary traffic control measures (signs, cones, barriers).
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around work zones.
- Perform manual labour: digging, loading/unloading materials, site cleanup, lifting and carrying materials.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, labourers, equipment operators) as required.
- Maintain and inspect traffic control and safety equipment; report hazards.
- Follow site plans, instructions, and safety procedures.
- Record incidents, daily logs, and site attendance as required.
Required qualifications and skills
- WHMIS/occupational health & safety training preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads, stand/walk for long periods, work outdoors in all weather.
- Basic English sufficient to understand safety instructions and communicate with crew.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation preferred.
- Punctual, reliable, able to work in a team and follow directions.
Assets (not required)
- Previous traffic control experience on road construction projects.
- First aid/CPR certification.
