Reporting to the Controller, our General Accountant position will be responsible for the accurate and confidential administration of all aspects of Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and related activities for our mid-size manufacturing company in Brantford.

Responsibilities:

Payroll & Benefits Admin Responsibilities:

Process weekly payroll for approximately 30 non-unionized, hourly and salaried employees using the ADP TeamPay payroll system
Prepare related journal entries for general ledger
Administer group benefits and registered retirement pension plan and related matters
Reconcile all payroll general ledger accounts to payroll registers on a monthly basis
Maintaining employee files and information
Provide Payroll & Benefits related information to employees on an as needed basis
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports such as overtime reports, daily head count, turnover reports, etc.

Accounts Payable

Thoroughly review and approve all Accounts Payable (AP) invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper allocation to GL codes or 3-way match
Prepare AP aging reports with comprehensive payment documentation for Controller review
Ensure all payments are made punctually via check or ACH
Manage vendor setup and approvals

Accounts Receivable

Prepare and send invoices to customers
Prepare and post customer deductions, credit notes and payments
Ensure receivables are collected in a timely matter while maintaining good relationships
Maintain an accurate aging report

Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP/PCP) designation (asset)
Excellent knowledge payroll related Government regulations including the Employment Standards Act of Ontario
Business Administration diploma or 5+ years related experience

Skills Required:

Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
Fluency in Excel Spreadsheets
Excellent Verbal and Written English is a requirement of this position
Ability to stay motivated and keep a positive attitude
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and provide this proof if provided an offer of employment

Work times are Monday to Friday, days. Due to the nature of the work – this is an in-office position.
