As a Full-Time Adult, Youth, Child Worker at our Respite Home in Coquitlam, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to children and youth in a therapeutic home setting. This position is 40 hours per week, Tuesday-Saturday or Wednesday-Sunday 3pm-11pm depending on the candidate’s preference
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working with youth with ASD and behavioural challenges
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Comfortable assisting with personal care to clients
Knowledge of supportive strategies, needs, and risk assessment
Knowledge of therapeutic approaches
Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or Equivalent
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (training will be provided to those who do not have this yet)
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption or accommodation from the Provincial Health Authority or Hollyburn)
A sample of what you’ll be doing:
Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
Providing Hygiene support to the clients
Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, and assisting clients with personal care as needed
Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans
Salary: $24.00-$26.00/hour plus benefits
