Full Time Community Inclusion Worker Jobs in Kamloops at TOCSC

TOCSC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Inclusion Worker to provide care, assistance to an individual with diverse abilities, while providing support to enhance their life and community involvement.

As a Community Inclusion Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and comfort of the persons we support. This position requires a strong commitment to a persons care and the ability to perform various duties related to personal care, community involvement and home support.

24-hour Respite Shifts: This position is considered a “Live-In” position per the BC Employment Standards Act. Support Workers are not expected to be awake throughout the night (aside from emergencies) and are provided a staff room/bed to sleep in. If the individual required assistance overnight, the support worker would be expected to provide essential support when needed. Respite wages range form $260 – $290 per 24 hour shift.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Providing a safe and nurturing environment
Providing the individual with personal health and hygiene tasks
Supporting an individual with complex medical care needs such as seizure protocols)
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the well-being of person supported
Provide support and assistance to individuals in their daily activities at home and in the community
Provide personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Administer medications according to prescribed schedules
Help with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met
Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment
Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with person supported
Monitor and report any changes in client’s condition or behavior
Presenting the individual in a positive and respectable manner
Assisting the individual with recreational activities and encouraging their participation in community events
Navigating emergency situations when they arise

Job Requirements:

Must be comfortable supporting an individual that requires full personal care.
Valid First Aid Certificate *Can be obtained during the training period*
Clear Criminal Record Check *Processed within our office
Medical clearance form completed by a physician
Valid Driver’s License
Safe Driving History
TB test (to be completed within probationary period)
Must be able to work multiple 24-hour shifts in a row for Respite
Must be fully vaccinated as per the Public Health Officer and able to provide proof (1st day of employment)
Completion of 2 work-related references
