We’re looking for an energetic, customer-focused Counter Staff member to represent our take-out stall in a fast-paced food court environment. You’ll be the face of our brand — taking orders, handling payments, and keeping the counter running efficiently during high-traffic rushes. Great Fountain is a high-volume, family-owned Hong Kong–style fast food restaurant serving the Scarborough community for over 20 years. We are known for our efficiency, warmth, and consistency — and we are entering a new phase of growth to feed our proud Canadian-Chinese audience.
Responsibilities
Customer Service & Order Taking
- Greet customers warmly and guide them through the menu quickly and confidently
- Take orders accurately at the counter, handling customizations and dietary questions
- Process payments efficiently using our digital POS system
- Call out or hand off orders; ensure each customer receives the correct items
- Handle customer inquiries, special requests, and complaints with professionalism and care
- Keep the counter, display area, and customer-facing surfaces clean and presentable at all times
Operations & Team Support
- Communicate order tickets and special requests clearly to kitchen staff
- Assist with packaging, labelling, and quality-checking orders before handoff
- Restock packaging supplies, condiments, and counter items throughout the shift
- Assist with opening and closing duties (cleaning, restocking)
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards
- Support teammates during peak lunch and dinner rushes
What We’re Looking For
- Fluency in both Cantonese and English is required — you’ll be serving a bilingual clientele and clear communication in both languages is essential
- Comfortable using a digital Point of Sale (POS) system, or eager and able to learn one quickly
- Able to work at a fast pace without sacrificing accuracy or friendliness
- Warm, customer-focused attitude — even under pressure
- Ability to stay organized and calm in a high-volume, quick-service environment
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
- Prior counter service, food court, or customer-facing experience is an asset, but not required
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time / Full-time: Tuesday-Sunday, 11:30AM – 3:30PM OR 11:30 – 7:30PM
- Pay: $17.60/hour
