This leadership role combines crew supervision, field operations, quality control, and customer-facing communication to deliver safe, high-quality fencing solutions on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. If you’re a motivated, reliable leader who takes pride in craftsmanship and safety, this is your opportunity to elevate a skilled team and contribute to high-impact projects.

Key Responsibilities

– Lead, supervise, and mentor a crew of installation technicians on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to spec.

– Plan daily and weekly work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor crew productivity and performance against project milestones and budgets.

– Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, customer specifications, and material lists; translate plans into precise field layouts and installations.

– Oversee measurement, layout, trenching/post-hole driving, excavation, setting of posts, anchor systems, gates, hardware, and finishing details for all fence types.

– Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA or local equivalents), enforce PPE use, conduct regular toolbox talks, and lead incident/near-miss reporting and corrective actions.

– Manage quality control checks, perform on-site inspections, and address any deficiencies or adjustments required to meet specifications and customer expectations.

– Order and manage materials, tools, and equipment; coordinate deliveries with suppliers and project managers; maintain accurate inventory and usage records.

– Resolve on-site issues quickly (subsurface obstructions, drainage, alignment, gate operations, weather-related delays) and communicate changes to the project team and customer when needed.

– Maintain professional customer relations on-site; provide clear progress updates, manage expectations, and document changes or scope adjustments.

– Train and develop crew members on installation best practices, safety procedures, and craftsmanship standards; promote continuous improvement and teamwork.

– Collaborate with Project Managers to review project requirements, schedules, and quality benchmarks; support closeout requirements and punch-list completion.

– Operate and maintain company equipment in good working condition; coordinate routine maintenance and reporting of any mechanical issues.

– Demonstrate leadership in promoting a positive, collaborative, and safety-first culture on every site.

Qualifications and Skills

– Minimum of 3 – 5 years of fencing installation experience, with a proven track record across multiple fence types (vinyl/PVC, aluminum, steel, chain-link, wood, and composite) and configurations.

– At least 2 years of supervisory or lead-foreman experience coordinating crews, scheduling, and site logistics.

– Strong ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, shop drawings, and material specifications; skilled in accurate layout and measurement.

– Proficiency in using common fencing tools and equipment (post-hole diggers/augers, trenchers, plate compactors, grinders, saws, levels, string lines) and basic carpentry/metalworking techniques.

– Excellent leadership and people-management skills; capable of motivating, training, and guiding crews to high performance while maintaining a positive safety culture.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable coordinating with customers, project managers, suppliers, and team members.

– Basic technical literacy (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) for timesheets, daily reports, and material ordering; ability to maintain accurate project documentation.

– Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel to multiple job sites as required; ability to work overtime, weekends, or travel for extended projects when needed.

Preferred Certifications and Experience

– Safety Experience; first aid/CPR training a Plus.

– Forklift, skid-steer or other equipment operation certification.

– Additional construction trades training (carpentry, metal fabrication, welding) considered a plus.

– Experience with commercial and industrial fencing projects, including gate systems and automatic gates a Plus.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

– Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift 50+ pounds; climb ladders and work at heights as needed.

– Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
