Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

As a combined Dietary/Housekeeping/Laundry Aide position this position is required to perform general kitchen duties and food preparation as well as to complete various housekeeping and laundry duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Completed or be enrolled in a Food Service Worker Program approved by the Dietitian’s of Canada and the Ontario Society of Nutrition Management (formerly OFSSA).
A current Safe Food Handling Certificate from Public Health.
Completed recognized course in housekeeping is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Up to one month of current related experience preferably in a long term care geriatric setting.
Experience in operating and utilizing commercial/institutional equipment and products.

SKILLS
Knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food storage and safekeeping.
Ability to read menus.
Safety and fire regulation awareness.
Must have a clear understanding of Canada’s Food Guide.
Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to work cooperatively with staff and residents.
Ability to follow oral and written directive.
High food standards with an interest to upgrade.
Goods standards of cleanliness and order.
Reliable and conscientious.
Well organized and have acceptable pace to meet time schedules.
Must be able to exercise judgment and initiative.
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position.
Must have good attendance record.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
Shift Information

Currently scheduled 8 hours days/evenings shifts, may be required to work days, evenings and nights including weekends. Must be willing and able to work up to 24 hours per week and declare availability of 32 hours per week
