Position Title: Equipment Maintenance Operator

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Equipment Operator & Maintenance Specialist to manage both the operation and upkeep of company machinery. This role is critical in supporting landscape installations, site preparation, and ongoing operations by ensuring all equipment is used efficiently, safely, and maintained to the highest standard.
The ideal candidate is experienced in operating heavy equipment, detail-oriented in maintenance, and proactive in preventing issues before they impact job performance.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation
- Operate heavy machinery including skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, and other landscape equipment
- Assist in site preparation, grading, material movement, and project setup
- Load and unload equipment from trucks and trailers safely
- Work in varying terrain, including uneven and rocky environments
- Follow all company procedures and safety standards during operation
- Identify site conditions such as low spots, drainage issues, or material needs and communicate with Foreman and crew
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on all tools, trucks, and machinery
- Inspect equipment regularly to ensure safety and performance
- Diagnose and complete minor repairs (oil changes, blade replacement, basic mechanical fixes)
- Coordinate major repairs with outside vendors when necessary
- Track maintenance schedules and maintain service records
- Keep equipment, yard, and shop clean, organized, and job-ready
Operational Support
- Assist crews with equipment needs and troubleshooting in the field
- Ensure all equipment is prepared and ready before daily dispatch
- Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, workflow, and equipment usage

Qualifications
- 2–5+ years experience operating heavy equipment
- Experience with small engine maintenance and basic mechanical repair
- Ability to safely load, transport, and operate machinery
- Strong understanding of job site workflow and terrain challenges
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus)
Compensation
- $22–$32/hour based on experience
- Opportunity to grow into Equipment Supervisor or Operations role
- Performance-based increases
