Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Flagger to join our team. The Flagger plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both workers and the public at construction sites or roadwork areas. This position requires effective communication skills and a strong understanding of traffic control measures. The ideal candidate will be proactive in managing traffic flow and will have experience with various heavy equipment operations. ***MUST HAVE CURRENT FLAGGING CERTIFICATION ***
Responsibilities
- Direct traffic around construction sites using appropriate signals and signs to ensure safety.
- Monitor the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, providing clear instructions to maintain safe passage.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate work activities and minimize disruptions.
- Maintain a clear understanding of site plans and traffic control layouts.
- Assist in the operation of heavy equipment as needed, including but not limited to:
– Loader operation – Backhoe operation – Grader operation – Bulldozer operation – Dump truck driving Support utility locating efforts to prevent damage during excavation work.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols at all times.Skills
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and the public.
- Experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred, including:
– Paving experience – Front loader truck operation – Knowledge of utility locating techniques Ability to remain alert and focused in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise on-site.
