Fire & Security Technician / Programmer
Overview:
Communication Company is currently hiring for the position of Programmer with a focus on Life-Safety. This person provides technical and analytical services for programming, integration and support of fire alarm, security, access control and A/V systems in a commercial environment. The objective of this position is the successful implementation of software applications and system hardware packages sold by Communication Company. This position requires the ability to interface with the customer’s staff (end users), customer’s IT personnel, Communication Company’s technical personnel, and other vendor technology representatives to coordinate, and relay technical information.
Duties to include but not limited to:
· The primary responsibility of this position is to program, configure, and commission Fire Alarm, Card Access, and security systems and other associated Life Safety and Building system products
- Participate in technical project and service planning
- Configure and make modifications to proprietary software as necessary
- Install, modify, upgrade and perform maintenance on supported software and equipment.
- Instruct and train customers on functional operation of the equipment/system.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in computer science or electronics or equivalent work experience
- 2 or more years of experience programming in one or more of the following: low voltage electrical systems, Fire Alarm, Nurse Call, Security, Intrusion, Access Control, CCTV, or Paging Systems with certification
- NICET II or higher desired
- Knowledge of Network Topology (Wireless Networks, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, FTP, Windows File services).
- Database administration experience to create, modify, develop reports and manipulate data.

- Self-motivator and self-starter who sees challenges as opportunities.
- Comfortable and able to meet and present to various levels of customer’s staff.
