The Opportunity

Korn Ferry is exclusively partnering with our client, a publicly listed global consumer goods company, to recruit for a Finance Director (VP level). Based in Toronto, you will have responsibility over the financial performance of one of the company’s fastest‑growing categories within a core business division.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Finance Director will serve as a strategic and operational finance leader for the Category. The role combines long‑range financial planning, business partnership, and investment evaluation with hands‑on oversight of day‑to‑day financial operations. You will provide financial insights across new product launches, investments, and M&A integration, while ensuring strong financial governance and controls.

This is a high‑impact leadership role offering significant strategic exposure and influence during a period of growth and transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Own Category financial performance, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and consolidation
  • Drive budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long‑term financial planning
  • Lead financial evaluation of new product launches, strategic initiatives, and Capex investments
  • Define and monitor KPIs to assess Category performance and financial health
  • Proactively analyze performance variances, provide insights, and drive corrective actions
  • Strengthen financial acumen and accountability across the full Category value chain
  • Collaborate with Treasury on intercompany funding and multi‑period cash flow forecasting

M&A Integration & Transformation

  • Lead post‑merger integration of acquired businesses within the Finance function
  • Harmonize financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and control standards
  • Oversee finance‑related system implementations, data migration, and consolidation
  • Coordinate audit processes and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
  • Partner with global business services to integrate finance processes
  • Support change management and knowledge transfer across teams

Governance and Controls

  • Strengthen and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures across the Category and acquired entities
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal policies, and applicable legal regulations
  • Actively participate in the business unit controlling network, driving best practices and continuous improvement in finance and controlling

Candidate Profile

Financial Leadership & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in senior finance leadership roles
  • Broad finance expertise across FP&A, financial reporting, controlling, and treasury
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and public company financial reporting, including consolidation and disclosures
  • Experience supporting cross‑border and international operations, including transfer pricing and tax considerations
  • Proven track record of improving financial processes, controls, and performance
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver cost savings, operational efficiencies, and value creation

Business Operations & Sector Exposure

  • Experience within D2C environments including retail, consumer goods, and related industries
  • Strong understanding of digital‑first and omni‑channel business models, including product costing, inventory, and supply chain dynamics
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, growth‑oriented, and entrepreneurial environments
  • Experience using data and analytics to drive real‑time performance insights
  • Proven ability to support scaling businesses from a finance perspective

Integration & Change Leadership

  • Hands‑on experience leading post‑merger integrations across Finance and broader business functions
  • Strong change‑management capability, including aligning systems, processes, and cultures
  • Ability to manage complex, multi‑workstream initiatives simultaneously
  • Confident leader of cross‑functional and geographically diverse teams

Communication & Leadership Style

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills at all organizational levels
  • Clear, confident communicator with experience presenting to senior leadership
  • Strategic, collaborative, and commercially minded
