Financial Counselor Position
Monmouth Family Health Center, a community health center located in Long Branch, NJ is seeking a professional, customer-focused Financial Counselor to join our team. This position is responsible for registering patients, determining eligibility for services, collecting and maintaining accurate patient information, providing financial counseling, and ensuring patients understand available services and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Register patients by completing required forms and entering information into the electronic patient information system.
· Screen prospective patients for eligibility based on federal guidelines.
· Interview patients to obtain and verify family, demographic, financial, and insurance information.
· Educate patients regarding the Center’s services, procedures, hours of operation, fees, appointment scheduling and cancellation processes, and patient rights.
· Inform eligible patients about available insurance application assistance and refer them to appropriate staff members.
· Copy and maintain required patient documentation for inclusion in medical records.
· Ensure all required forms and consents are properly completed and signed.
· Update patient registration information when changes occur, including referrals, family size, income, or insurance coverage changes.
· Distribute and explain patient information packets and respond to patient questions.
· Refer patients and community members to appropriate healthcare providers, community resources, and social service agencies as needed.
· Operate office equipment and perform general administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
· Previous experience in healthcare registration, patient access, financial counseling, customer service, or a related field preferred.
· Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance programs, and eligibility screening processes preferred.
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
· Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
· Bilingual is preferred.
Pay: From $37,400.00 per year
