Our client is a leading healthcare provider with a strong presence across Ontario and Alberta, recognized for excellence in patient care, operational growth, and employee experience. They are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team in Calgary.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who is hands-on, operationally minded, and comfortable working closely with front-line business and operations leaders. This is not a purely back-office accounting role. The successful candidate will act as the financial operations point of contact for the location, partnering with operations, clinical, and administrative teams to provide financial insights, support billing and revenue processes, monitor performance, and help drive better business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze financial and operational data to generate meaningful insights that support business decisions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, dashboards, and KPI reporting packages.
- Perform budget-to-actual, forecast-to-actual, and trend/variance analysis, identifying risks, opportunities, and drivers of performance.
- Maintain financial models and support ongoing reporting and decision-making needs.
Business Partnering & Operational Finance Support
- Serve as the financial operations point of contact for the Calgary location, working closely with operations, clinic leaders, and cross-functional teams.
- Partner with site leadership to understand operational challenges, financial trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide day-to-day financial support to the business, helping translate financial data into actionable operational recommendations.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across operations, finance, and administration to ensure alignment on financial priorities.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Process Improvement
- Support the annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and long-range planning activities.
- Evaluate current financial and operational processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist in the development of tools, reporting, and controls that improve visibility into performance and support proactive decision-making.
Revenue Cycle, Billing & Reconciliation
- Take ownership of private pay revenue streams, ensuring accuracy, completeness, timely reconciliation, and proper reporting.
- Provide oversight and support for Alberta Health billings, helping ensure compliance, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
- Monitor billing activity, reimbursement trends, and revenue cycle performance to identify issues, financial risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and maintain audit-ready billing documentation to support internal and external review processes.
Compliance, Audit & Controls
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure financial reporting and billing processes are well documented, accurate, and aligned with internal controls and organizational standards.
- Assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, operational finance, or a similar finance/business partnering role.
- Experience working in healthcare, clinics, diagnostics, or another regulated/service-based environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting.
- Experience supporting billing, revenue cycle, reimbursement, or healthcare/insurance claims processes is a strong asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting/data visualization tools such as Power BI is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with operations and non-finance stakeholders.
- Comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment where the role requires both analytical work and day-to-day operational support.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
