This position is part-time and has an end date of August 31, 2028.
Location – This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Faculty Lecturer for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 Academic Years.
Reporting to the Department Chair, this position is responsible for teaching core analytical chemistry courses (CHEM 211, 213, 313), as well as assisting with introductory chemistry courses (CHEM 101, 102, 103, 105) or introductory environmental chemistry courses (CHEM 303, 305), as needed. Expectations are that the appointee would teach one to three lecture sections per academic term. Teaching would be undertaken primarily during the fall and/or winter terms, with the potential of teaching during the spring term. - Working in conjunction with the appropriate Course and Laboratory Coordinators to support administration and delivery of assigned courses.
- If teaching CHEM 211 for the first time, working as a teaching assistant for one section of the laboratory.
- Supporting teaching initiatives in the Department by working on curriculum development and the introduction of new instructional technologies and methods of delivery.
- The successful candidate must have a M.Sc. degree in Chemistry, but preference will be given to those with a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry. A research background in analytical/environmental chemistry is an asset.
- The successful candidate will have an excellent record of teaching, demonstrating an ability to engage students in different classroom settings with varying class sizes.
- A commitment to professional development and the capability to work collaboratively and positively with the course instructional teams are also desirable.
